As a sculptor, I have been working almost exclusively with plastics, in particular, polyester resin. Concentrating on the spherical form - the sphere, being transparent and highly polished, provides me with a perfect frame for three dimensional sculpture. I am working with the intangibles of light and colour in and on reflective surfaces. It should be understood that it is light itself - and its interactions which give added life to the sphere - so that light, whatever its source, becomes an integral part of the sculpture. The sphere is cast from polyester resin and worked to a high degree of transparency. Techniques with this medium include - fracture, pigmentation and multiple casting to gain dimensional effects. Each sphere is mounted on a revolving base to enable 360 degree interactive changing views and infinite light variations.
